Standalone binary
Download the archive for your platform from the releases page, extract it, and put the lunos binary on your PATH. Assets are named lunos-<os>-<arch>.
Getting started
Lunos is a command-line tool you install on your own machine or a server you operate. There is no account to create and no Lunos-operated service involved in running it.
Recommended
Needs Node.js 18 or later, on Linux, macOS or Windows.
npm i -g lunos-ai@latest --allow-scripts=lunos-ai--allow-scripts=lunos-ai matters on npm 12, which no longer runs install scripts by default: without it the package installs but the step that fetches the lunos binary is skipped, and lunos refuses to start. Earlier npm versions accept the flag. Verified on a clean install of v1.18.40 with npm 10 and npm 12. Then check it runs:
lunos --versionYou also need an API key from the model provider you choose. Which providers you may use is yours to restrict: see data-residency controls.
Alternatives
Download the archive for your platform from the releases page, extract it, and put the lunos binary on your PATH. Assets are named lunos-<os>-<arch>.
For reviewers who need to build from audited source. See CONTRIBUTING.md in the repository.
Binaries are not code-signed yet, on any platform, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen will warn, and release artifacts can't be verified by signature. If that is a procurement requirement, install with npm or build from source.
